Do you need a physician?
Do you have a medical issue, but do not have a family doctor?
- You can reach Info-Health by dialing 8-1-1. A nurse will assess your issue, provide you with information and direct you, as needed, to the appropriate location.
- You can check if there is a clinic near you or a family medicine group that accepts patients who do not have a family doctor (i.e. walk-in clinics).
- In case of a serious or urgent problem, you may go to the hospital emergency department.
- In case of an emergency, dial 9-1-1 to reach an ambulance service.
Finding a family physician
You must first sign in at the guichet d’accès à un médecin de famille.
To do so, click on the Portail santé mieux-être link : gamf.gouv.qc.ca .

Do you need specialized medical care?
Medical specialists receive patients only upon the referral of a general practitioner. If you believe you need to see a medical specialist, you must discuss the matter with your family physician. If you do not have a family physician, try to see a physician at a walk-in clinic.
If your physician requests an EMERGENCY consultation, he/she will see to directing you appropriately. If the request for consultation is not urgent, your physician or the clinic staff will provide you with the contact information of hospitals and clinics to get in touch with to book an appointment. You must then follow the steps yourself.
We strive to keep our lists up-to-date. However, there are frequent changes to some lists. We encourage you to phone before you travel.
For the list of medical clinics that offer walk-in appointments, check out le Portail santé mieux-être .
